Israeli strikes kill 17 in southern Lebanon as tensions rise
The Israeli attack on southern Lebanon through air strikes has claimed at least 17 lives, leading to tensions since Israel refuses to heed Iranian warnings of suspending its military operations against Hezbollah. The war, which broke out after the killing of the supreme ruler of Iran in March 2026, has wreaked havoc in Lebanon, leaving close to one million people homeless, thus triggering an international investigation of war crimes committed there. Despite efforts by America's President Donald Trump to initiate a ceasefire in April, the war persists because Iran wants any agreement reached to be fair for both Lebanon and Iran.
